I have decided to become a bit more assertive in my old age. If I buy a product that offends me in any way, I now feel that it is my duty to tell the manufacture about my concerns. So, when I had another BURNT experience, I totally had to share my disappointment. This time it was potato chips! Can you believe that this company would actually sell burnt chips ON PURPOSE??? Well, when I opened the bag, I was totally shocked and appalled to see a full bag of chips that were dark brown!! Of course I had to immediately write to the company!!

Dear Cape Cod Potato Chips,
I am a potato chip picker! When I open a new bag of chips, I will only
eat the light ones. If it has any little bit of dark on it, I give it
to my husband.
Needless to say—I was shocked when I opened up your chips, only to
discover that every single one of them were burned. I am not just
talking about a little bit of brown around the edges–I am talking about
every single potato chip in the entire bag–BURNT!!
So, after I opened the bag I told my husband that I was unaware of the
term “robust” to mean burnt. He then found the description on the back
that explained the reason for the BURNT potato chips! However, your
explanation stated that they were not burnt, just darker in color
because of the type of potato used. I DON’T BUY IT!! You can’t fool
me!! I tasted a few of the very lightest ones I could find, and they
tasted totally burnt!!
So, this is my question. Do you sell any other products that are not
burnt?? If so, you could send me a coupon to replace the cost of the
bad, burnt chips. If that is the only thing you sell—I am afraid that
you may have a hard time staying in business! The cost of these chips at Pick N Save was $3.49 plus tax (5.1%) = $3.67 total. If this is your only product, I would prefer a refund check instead of a coupon. I’m just sayin’

In the meantime, I was exploring the web for any other products that this company made, and I was pleased to find other options that I could try, just in case they sent me a coupon instead of a refund. Within 15 minutes I received a reply!! This is what they had to say:

And, you can be sure that if I like it, I will send you a “compliment” letter as quickly as I sent the complaint!! Now, this is the kind of customer service that every company should have!
